Cardboard String art

My middle school kiddos are in love with this project! Thanks to Cassie Stephens string art lesson!  After learning the process I decided to revamp it for my students and Success! This lesson can take 2-3 art periods and the supplies are easy to find.

Supplies I used:

Cardboard (donated) 12 x 12 inch cut
Black tempera paint or any color
Yarn bright colors are better
Tapestry needles (plastic)
Masking tape
Scissors
Push pins
White colored pencil or white gel pen

Check out the video for my step by step tutorial.

  1. Really wish the video had shown how to add other colors of yarn. To change the pattern. Do you just start at the color at hole number two hole or what???? Bummer.

    1. you'd have to get a yarn skein that's multicolored.

  2. Consider talking about Gabriel Dawe in conjunction with this project. He's an amazing artist from Mexico City. https://www.gabrieldawe.com/
