Here are a few more pictures of my room. I am so happy to be finished.
 
My word wall consists of principles of designs and elements of art.
(I will add more throughout the year)
 





This is my assignment box, for dry papers. I took a huge box from my poster board order and used fabric to cover it. I saw this stop sign on Pinterest, I just had to add it. I dislike with a passion no name papers.


 
Love these hooks! The best idea I could have ever come up with.




                                                 
 
To keep my line straight in case I have some late pick ups from teachers.I even put foot prints in front of my sink.

 
Finished product and looking forward to starting a new school year next Tuesday.

    I like the idea of having a word wall in the art room. I would have never thought if that.

    Love the footprints!!! Do the kids actually stick to them? The word wall is also a great visual reinforcement :)

    Thanks the foot prints are actually working this year. I don't have any finger prints on the wall so far. It's a great way to teach procedures. I have foot prints at the pencil sharpener as well as the sink. Middle school students follow them too.

My middle school kiddos are in love with this project! Thanks to Cassie Stephens string art lesson!  After learning the process I decided to revamp it for my students and Success! This lesson can take 2-3 art periods and the supplies are easy to find. Chris Riggs Heart Art

One of my favorite modern/Instagram artist to teach about is Chris Riggs, his work is simple but edgy and has a great message of love. I decided to use his layering style in a cut paper collage project for my middle school students. I used a video to demonstrate the cutting technique and once they got that, the rest was history.   Supplies needed: 12x18 Black or white construction paper 5x5 inch construction paper variety of colors Scissors Glue Pencil and eraser   Loved how students tried new shapes to create their design.

Paper Weaving

Teaching the weaving process has not always been easy for me to teach. Students struggle with the concept of over and under and being able to see the pattern. That all changed for me when I decided to create these large paper looms. Students were given more practice and able to work with their peers for extra guided practice. To make this even better, I turn it into sort of a competition, the group that finishes first and does it correctly may move on to the individual paper looms. They love the intrinsic reward of finishing and moving to the next task.  I hope that this helps you if you struggle like I did with paper weaving.  Each student gets one strip to weave correctly. Students may verbally assist each other in their own group.
